OTT Navigator is an IPTV player app for Android-based devices, including Android TV, Fire TV, phones and tablets. This OTT Navigator guide covers adding a source, loading the TV guide, organising channels and understanding the free and Premium tiers. As with every player, it contains no channels: you add a source from a legitimate provider that you are entitled to use.
IPTV Commons does not discuss or recommend services, so we describe only the app's fields. All addresses here use example.com and placeholders like your-username.
Quick answer: Install OTT Navigator, add a provider in the setup wizard (M3U link or Xtream-style login), add a guide source if needed, then tidy groups and favourites. Premium is an optional paid upgrade bought through a companion app, and exactly what it unlocks has changed over time, so check the app.
OTT Navigator updates often and menus move around. Treat this guide as a map: if a label differs, look for the closest one.
What is OTT Navigator and who is it for?
It is a heavily configurable player. People tend to choose it when they want to adjust the interface, use catch-up where the source supports it, or try a capable free tier before paying. Comparisons with TiviMate often say TiviMate feels more polished while OTT Navigator offers more settings. That is opinion, not a fact, so try both: see IPTV player apps compared and the TiviMate setup guide.
Which devices does it support?
OTT Navigator runs on Android phones, tablets, Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV. It does not run on iOS or Apple TV. If you have not chosen hardware yet, see the Android TV box buying guide and the Fire TV Stick setup guide.
How do I install OTT Navigator?
- On Android TV or Google TV, search for it in the Google Play Store.
- On Fire TV, check the Amazon Appstore first. If you need to install a file instead, follow the safety advice in sideloading apps on Fire TV and use only the developer's official site. Avoid cracked or "unlocked" versions, which are a real malware risk.
- Open the app and follow the first-run wizard.
How do I add a playlist to OTT Navigator?
The wizard asks you to add a provider (source). Two common types follow.
Adding an M3U link
- Choose the option to add a playlist by link or URL.
- Enter the address, which has the shape
https://example.com/your-playlist.m3u. Your own provider's address will differ and should stay private. - Name it, confirm, and wait while channels load.
M3U files are explained in M3U playlists explained.
Adding an Xtream-style login
- Choose the option for a login with a server, username and password.
- Enter the server address (shape
https://example.com:8080),your-usernameandyour-password. - Confirm and let the channels load.
Local files are also supported by many versions, which can be handy if you manage your own playlist.
How do I set up the EPG in OTT Navigator?
The guide may come with your source. If it does not, look in the provider settings for an EPG or TV guide address and add an XMLTV link of the form https://example.com/guide.xml. Then refresh the guide and check that channels line up with programmes.
If channels show nothing, the usual reason is a mismatch between the channel IDs in the playlist and those in the guide. Our EPG and XMLTV guide explains how matching works, and EPG showing the wrong time covers offset problems.
How do I organise groups, favourites and the interface?
- Open the channel list settings and hide groups you do not need.
- Mark favourites you watch often.
- Look through the interface settings for layout, skins and the start screen. OTT Navigator has a lot of options, so change a few at a time.
- If you share the device, check whether profiles are available in your tier.
What is free and what is Premium?
OTT Navigator has a free version and an optional Premium upgrade. Third-party reviews report Premium features such as multiple profiles, extra parental controls, picture-in-picture and auto-resume of the last channel, but those sources disagree with each other on details, including which features are free. We have therefore not listed prices or a definitive feature split.
What we can say is how it is bought: through a companion app from the Google Play Store, with the price shown at checkout in your country. A sensible approach is to use the free version for a couple of weeks and upgrade only if you hit a specific limit.
How do catch-up, recording and timeshift work?
Catch-up lets you replay a recent programme. It only works when your source provides archive streams, and the player cannot add it. Where available, you can usually open a programme from the guide and choose to play it from the start. Recording and timeshift options depend on your version and tier, so check the app. The differences are explained in catch-up, timeshift and recording.
What if playback stutters?
Try a wired connection, check that the device is not short of storage and test a different stream. Our buffering guide lists fixes, and internet speed for IPTV shows what your connection needs.
Where can I ask for help?
Post in the Players forum with your device and app version. Remove URLs, usernames and passwords, and never name your provider.
What should I check before paying for Premium?
Work through a short checklist so you spend only if you need to:
- Use the free version with your real source for a week or two, including during busy evening hours.
- Write down any specific feature you miss, such as separate profiles for family members or more parental controls.
- Open the Premium screen and compare its list with your notes. Do not rely on a review's list, since features move between tiers over time.
- Check the price and billing period (subscription or one-off) in the store before confirming.
- Remember the purchase belongs to a store account, so use the same account on every device you want covered.
Buying only through the official companion app protects you from fake "activation" sellers, which are a common trick. Our IPTV scams red flags guide explains what to watch for.
How do I keep OTT Navigator running smoothly?
Android TV and Fire TV devices with small amounts of memory can struggle with huge playlists. Hide groups you never use, avoid loading several enormous guides at once and restart the device now and then. If the app seems slow, clearing its cache from the device's app settings is a safe first step. A device with more memory and a wired connection helps most, as covered in the Android TV box buying guide.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my guide not match the channels?
Usually the channel IDs in the playlist do not match those in the guide, or the guide source is missing. Check the EPG address and refresh it.
