A blank TiviMate guide usually means one of five things: no EPG source has been added, the guide has not updated yet, the channel IDs do not match, the guide file is too big for the device, or the number of days loaded is set badly. Work through them in that order, because the first two take under a minute. This page fixes a TiviMate EPG not loading on Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV.
Quick answer: Open the playlist's settings, confirm an EPG source is listed, then force a guide update. If channels are still empty, the playlist's
tvg-idvalues probably do not match the guide's channel IDs.
Menu names change between TiviMate versions, so look for the closest match if your screen differs.
1. Is an EPG source added at all?
TiviMate does not invent a guide. If your provider supplied guide data with the playlist (for example through an Xtream-style login) it may load by itself. If you added a plain M3U playlist, you normally need to add the guide address yourself.
- Go to TiviMate's Settings and open your playlist.
- Look for the EPG or TV guide entry.
- Check there is an address, in the shape
https://example.com/guide.xml(or.xml.gz).
If it is empty, add the guide address your provider gave you. Our EPG and XMLTV guide explains the file format.
2. Has the guide actually updated?
Adding a source does not always load it immediately. Look for an option to update the EPG or refresh it in the playlist's settings and run it, then wait. Large guides can take a few minutes, and the channel list may look empty until the update ends.
3. Do the channel IDs match?
TiviMate links a channel to the guide by comparing the playlist's tvg-id with the channel ID in the XMLTV file. If they differ by even one character, that channel stays blank. Signs of this: some channels show a guide and others do not. Open the channel in TiviMate's channel settings and look for a manual EPG match option, then choose the right guide entry by hand. The M3U playlists explained guide shows where tvg-id sits in a playlist.
4. Is the guide file too big?
A guide covering hundreds of channels for many days can be very large to process. On a low-memory stick, TiviMate may stall, restart or never finish loading it. Signs include the app freezing after you add the guide, or the update never completing. Ask your source for a smaller guide limited to the channels you actually watch, or hide unused groups so there is less to match.
5. Check the days setting
Look in the guide settings for how many days of data are loaded or kept. Setting it very high makes the file heavier to process, while setting it very low can make the guide look empty after a short time. A moderate value is usually the sensible choice. The exact option name varies by version.
If that didn't work
Gather these before asking for help:
- Your device model and TiviMate version.
- Whether all channels are blank or only some.
- Whether the guide address opens in a browser on a computer (do not post the address publicly).
- Whether the times are wrong rather than missing, in which case see EPG showing the wrong time.
Remove any addresses, usernames or passwords from anything you post. For the full app walkthrough, see the TiviMate setup guide.
If you got it working, tell us which step fixed it and what device you are on.
