We write a lot about IPTV player apps, but guides only go so far. What matters is what you actually reach for every evening and what has made you stick with it, so this thread is for that.
Quick answer: There isn't one best player. Reply with your player, your device and the one feature that keeps you using it, and other members can compare notes.
How to reply
Copy this and fill it in:
- Player app: for example TiviMate, OTT Navigator, Kodi, VLC or another.
- Device: the box, stick, TV or phone you use it on, and roughly how old it is.
- The one feature that keeps you using it: for example a fast guide, multiple views, recording, easy favourites or a clean layout.
- The one thing that annoys you: every app has one.
- How long you've used it: a few weeks, a year or more.
What counts as a good answer?
Specific beats general. "The guide opens in about a second on my old box" tells people far more than "it's great". Equally, "it keeps crashing after updates on my TV" is useful if you say which TV and which version.
Ground rules
- Talk about the app, not where your channels come from. This forum doesn't name, recommend or ask about services or providers.
- Don't post playlist addresses, logins or screenshots that show them.
- Stick to official sources for downloads: the developer's own site or your device's app store. Avoid "modded" or "premium unlocked" versions of any app, because they are a common way for malware to reach your device.
- Be kind about other people's choices. The best player is the one that works for the person using it.
Not sure what to pick?
If you are still choosing, our comparison covers the main players and what they suit. You can also ask in this thread what people with a similar device would pick. Say which device you have, whether you want a media centre or just live viewing, and whether you need recording.
Why we are asking
Real-world experience helps us decide which guides to write and update. If several of you hit the same problem with an app, that is a good sign a guide is needed.
So, which player do you use, on what, and what is the one thing that keeps you there?
